Some You Win, Some You Lose

In a recession you might expect holiday destinations to see a drop in the number of tourists visiting, but there's also a shift in Europe of where those who are still taking holidays are heading to.

Last year Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia all saw a fall in visitors due to the Arab Spring, while this year those destinations are still seen as volatile but have added Greece to the list because of the Euro crises, with strikes and protests not mixing well with a relaxed holiday atmosphere.

So despite the recession some islands like Tenerife are doing well, to read more about what's happening in the world of travel visit this blog

Can't You Go Anywhere?

'Can't you go anywhere' is a phrase you might hear British tourists saying while they're on holiday in Europe.

What they're referring to is the shops - there's so many British shops that have expanded into other countries it seems that some places are an extension of the British High Street - even Mand S in Paris with a store plus doing home delivery and online shopping!

But could the reason for British shops being all over the world, not just Europe, be because the British are actually rather good at retail?

And if you are off too Europe and want to know what the weather is like visit their main site, the homepage for example covers the weather in Tenerife.

Will Climate Change Hit Tourist Island Economies?

In the UK this Easter the two big questions to do with the climate was why was it so awful during the four day break, and for gardeners getting used to a hose pipe ban.

But for islands like Cyprus who depend heavily on tourism climate change is a much more serious issue.

Some scientists claim that in a few years time the summer will simply be too hot for tourists.

In response tourism officials are looking at ways of making Cyprus a year round destination, and with the weather predicted to be warmer in the winter, a little like the weather in Tenerife, they're making plans just in case what they are being told is right.
